• Distribution
The Great Indian Hornbill appears in many places in Asia like India, China, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lao, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
• Habitat
The Great Indian Hornbill lives in a wide range of forest like tropical rainforest, evergreen forest, pine forest, exactly all the forest with big trees.
• Behaviour
This is the biggest bird of the Buceros family. The big stump on the bill is called the crown. They make their nests in natural holes of the tree and they prefer an entrance with a vertical split. The Great Indian Hornbill mainly eats fruit and they prefer banana, aplle and mango. The breeding season of the Great Indian Hornbill is in February and March. They lay two to five eggs in each brood which can incubate for 30 days. The male searches food for the female while she is sitting on the eggs. When the chicks are 18 days old they’re starting to look for food on their own. The average lifetime in captivity is 32 to 34 years.
