PHEASANTS - Phasianidae Indian Peafowl Pavo cristatus
• Distribution
They are found all over the Indian sub-continent and Sri Lanka.
• Behaviour
The lenght of an adult male is 1,8 to 2,3 meter and the winglength is 440 mm to 500 mm. They weigh 4 to 6 kg. The female of this species is a bit smaller and lighter. Their winglenght is 400 to 420 mm and they weigh 2,75 to 4 kg. They eat all kind of seeds, fruit, shoots and insects. The female lays about 4 to 8 eggs which can incubate for 27 to 29 days. The Indian Peafowls came to Hanoi Zoo on February 16th 2001.
